Work From Home Opportunities

Many people are working from home because of all the advantages and the lifestyle you can create. With the benefits of being home with family, saving money on petrol and other expenses and having the satisfaction of being their own boss, there is more interest in working from home. One thing that stops many people from beginning a home business is the fear of being scammed. It was for me, working from home was something I had wanted to do for years but when I moved from a large city to a smaller town, there were not many jobs available, so I began to look seriously for a work from home business. I spent a long time looking for the right business but the problem was that there were very few ‘real people’, just a lot of false claims and a lot of ‘get rich quick’ schemes.

Then there were the sites that were negative about any opportunity other than work from home jobs or businesses that required a specific skill and high start up costs. What I ended up being was confused because I didn’t want another job and I didn’t want a business that had high start up costs. Most of all, I didn’t want to trade time for dollars!!

Finding a legitimate work from home opportunity

Finding a legitimate home business opportunity is much more difficult now that people have learned how badly people want to work from home. Many companies promise the world and deliver nothing. Many people have sent money to companies hoping to begin a home business only to learn that they have become involved in a scam. Learning ways in which to spot scams and determine beforehand if a home business opportunity is legitimate can help you to find a real company that offers a real opportunity.

1. Avoid ‘get rich quick’ businesses

The first thing that you should watch for is companies that promise outrageous returns on your investment. If a company tells you that you are going to make thousands of dollars within days, then it is probably not legitimate. There really is no fast track to riches. Having a home business requires work and dedication. You are simply not going to earn thousands of dollars within days or even weeks unless you find a good product or service to sell and work very hard doing it. Never send a company money if you feel that their claims of success are outrageous. If a company offers a guarantee or compensation plan that you feel is not real then you are probably right.

On the other hand, if the company boasts large amounts of income from people who have worked with that company for many years, then that is an entirely different story. It is not unreasonable to believe that you can earn thousands of dollars in a month if you put a lot of work and dedication into your home business. You should note that many companies that advertise huge incomes on the internet are typically using the earnings of people who have been with them for a significant amount of time. You must remember that to run a successful work from home business requires commitment over time.

  • 2. Guaranteed Incomes
  • Beware of products or schemes that claim to guarantee income or winnings. The amount people earn in a work from home business will depend on many factors including time spent building the business, motivation, support and training.
  • 3. Find out more information
  • Think twice about doing business with a company that gives little information about who they are. Any reputable home business opportunity website will include contact information. They often have a contact page where interested parties can request additional information or speak directly to a real person. Scam artists rarely give out any type of contact information.
  • If you do find a company that offers a product or service that you want to be part of, then do some research. There should be a ‘real’ person you can talk to. Check them out on Facebook and Twitter, become their friend or like their fan page so you can see the type of person or company they are.

Remember, you should do business with people you like and trust – if you can’t find a real person, don’t start a work from home business with them!
